Iowa Preschool Creates Music Program With Volunteer Musicians Despite the many positives music and art programs provide children, they have been eliminated from many schools across the country due to budget cutbacks and shortfalls. But not at a certain Iowan preschool. There an enterprising pre-school owner/teacher has come up with a novel way to incorporate musical education into her program at no cost. She enlists the aid of local musicians. Canvassing the nearby university's music department, the parents and family members of the children attending her facility and local dance and music instructors, she has found many willing to perform, teach and talk to her students. Among her earliest volunteers was a local 6-piece jazz band that came to play. The group's small allowed all of the children to have a front-row seat for the performance while observing a variety of instruments. She positioned chairs in a semicircle and encouraged the children to move about so they could watch each musician and how they played their particular instrument. The children were so enthralled and inquisitive that she was determined to continue making music a part of her curriculum. |

Your Stories Will SellEvery business has stories of how they have helped clients in a very successful or unusual way and the childcare business is no exception. Most business owners do not appreciate what a great read these stories are - and what a great sales job they do. You may remember from a previous article the importance of writing in an editorial style. This is because humans love stories. We can't get enough of them. This is why more novels are sold than non-fiction books and why scores of movies are made for every documentary produced. |

The Powerful PS Dear Reader, I'm writing this article in the form of a letter to make a point. Among the vast amount of research advertisers have conducted over the years are some surprising facts. For example, what would you guess is the most read and remembered part of any letter? Taking first place in the most read and recalled category is - drumroll please - the PS. |

Life Time ValueDo most of your clients use you for one year? Two? More? Do they generally use you with successive children? And how much, on average, do they spend? You need to know this so you can determine the average life time value (LTV) of your clients. If you know a client over the years is worth $X to you, you then know how much you can spend to acquire one. |

Captions and Paragraphs Research shows that the captions under pictures are read nearly as much as headlines. Therefore, if you have pictures in your ads, brochures, website, emails etc. make certain to use captions. And make sure to use those captions to sell. Make them sharp, to the point one-liners. If you are using multiple pictures, try to create a complete sales message with your captions. Be certain each caption makes a particular point. |
